Second-Semester Survival Pack: Events Edition
A comprehensive guid to all the events you shiould look out for this semester!
Second semester at the College of Medicine doesn’t feel like the typical long walk to final exams; it’s the season when campus truly comes alive.
Between the adrenaline of Sports Week, the academic energy of Health Week, the buzz of Trade Fairs, and even a splash of style during Fashion Week, there’s a lot more going on than just lectures and lab reports. This semester is about showing up for yourself, your friends, your passions, and maybe even your grades.
Here’s all the events lined up so you don’t miss out on anything:
APSUL Sports Week
Let’s start with Sports Week, which just wrapped up—and it definitely left a mark. It was seven full days of nonstop energy, fierce matchups, and unforgettable moments. The week launched with a vibrant opening ceremony, and from there, it was game on. Pandora came out strong, dominating the volleyball games and setting a competitive tone early. From the 100-meter sprints that had the crowd on its feet to football matches that stirred serious class rivalries, every event brought excitement and intensity. The tug-of-war battles? Pure drama.
But beyond the scores and medals, Sports Week revealed what makes this college special. Students showed up for each other—cheering loudly, running relays, and sometimes arguing passionately. For many, it was a crash course in teamwork, resilience, and learning to win—or lose—with grace. Some walked away with gold, others with scraped knees and sore muscles, but everyone walked away with a story.
The grand finale was unexpected and electrifying: a Squid Game-inspired challenge that brought a fresh twist of strategy and suspense. Whether you competed or watched from the hostel barricades, the buzz it generated carried on long after the winners were crowned. Now that the games are over, it's time to rehydrate, catch our breath, and maybe finally glance at those lecture notes again. Or better yet, start getting ready for next semester’s edition—it’s something to look forward to.
The APSUL Health Week 2025
Speaking of what’s coming up, Health Week is just around the corner and shaping up to be one of the most enriching and exciting weeks of the session. The lineup includes an insightful seminar, a meaningful community outreach program, and a final-year symposium aimed at guiding those preparing to take the next big step after school.
But the week isn’t all serious business—there’s fun and competition in the mix too. The quiz and debate competitions promise sharp minds, confident voices, and lots of laughs and prizes. Whether you’re a participant or just there for moral support, there’s something to be gained. And while the official theme hasn’t been released yet, early hints suggest something relevant, inspiring, and deeply tied to our collective medical journey. From academic conversations to real-life application, this is a week to reflect, to connect, and to reignite your sense of purpose in medicine.
Health Week isn't just a calendar event—it’s a tradition and a reminder of why we chose this path in the first place. Make it count.
APSUL Trade Fair 2025
With the Health Week, the energy shifts again with the Trade Fair—a creative, entrepreneurial explosion you won’t want to miss. Think food, fashion, handmade crafts, digital art, skincare, baked treats, thrift finds, jewelry, and so much more. Students across departments will be setting up shop to show off their side hustles and hidden talents.
Whether you’ve got something to sell or you’re just there to support, browse, and vibe, this is your chance to be part of something vibrant and student-led. Expect music, live performances, raffles, games, and side attractions that turn the marketplace into a full-on experience. You might come with a small wallet, but you’ll leave with new discoveries, business cards, good food, and even better memories.
The 2025 APSUL Fashion Week
And just when you think you’ve seen it all, Fashion Week struts in. Each day comes with a different theme—maybe it’s retro, maybe it's traditional wear, maybe it’s an out-there costume day. One thing’s for sure: it’s your chance to ditch the usual and get creative. What will you wear? Who will you twin with? Now’s the time to start planning and get involved.
You don’t need a wardrobe full of designer clothes to join in—just bring your personality, your confidence, and your best attempt at the theme. Whether you go solo or coordinate with your squad, the goal is to have fun and turn campus into a runway of self-expression. The more people who join, the better the vibe.
With all of these events happening back-to-back, it’s easy to feel like your academics might take a backseat. But balance is key. Use those little moments wisely—review notes while waiting in line at an event, or do a quick group quiz with friends in the common room. Even a 10-minute recap before bed can help you stay on track.
Pair your study goals with rewards. Maybe it’s: “If I review one lecture slide, I get to go chill at the Trade Fair.” Or “No Health Week till I read two chapters.” It sounds simple, but it works. Also, keep an accountability group—those “You don read today?” messages in your WhatsApp group might be the only thing that gets you back on your feet some days.
And when it all starts to feel like too much, remind yourself of your “why.” It could be your passion, the dream of becoming, the promise you made to someone back home—or just that vision of walking across the stage in your graduation gown. Hold on to that when things get overwhelming.
Second-semester events aren’t a distraction—they’re part of the journey. The noise of the sports field, the quiet of a medical outreach, the thrill of pitching your product, or the rush of dressing up for theme day—all of it builds you up into the kind of student (and professional) you’re meant to be. So participate fully. Show up. Be loud. Be proud. Then return to your books with fresh energy and a full heart.
This semester, let your grades and your experiences shine. That said, which event do you think is my favorite… and which one is yours?
